Xiaomi has launched its latest Android tablets, the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro, positioning them as high-performance devices for productivity and creativity, aiming to compete with iPads and even replace laptops.
The top-tier Pad 8 Pro is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on a 3nm process, boasting an 81% CPU and 103% GPU performance increase over its predecessor. The standard Pad 8 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, offering a 32% faster CPU and 67% faster GPU.
Both models feature an 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. They house a 9,200mAh battery in a slim chassis, with the Pro supporting 67W charging versus 45W on the standard model.
Running HyperOS 3 on Android 16, the tablets emphasize "PC-level" productivity with enhanced multitasking, Workstation Mode, and desktop-style browsing. They are equipped with Xiaomi's HyperAI features like AI Writing and AI Art, alongside standard Gemini AI functionalities.
The Pad 8 Pro starts at £529, with availability in the UK, Europe, and Australia. New accessories include the Focus Keyboard and Focus Pen Pro stylus.
