Leica has ended the Japan-exclusive status of its Leitzphone series, launching the 'Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi' globally. This marks the first internationally available device from the series, combining Xiaomi's latest flagship hardware with Leica's distinct design philosophy.

The phone differentiates itself from the co-branded 'Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica' through its design, which features a black fibreglass back, a knurled metal frame, and Leica's iconic red dot, adhering to a principle of "reduction to the essential." A key feature is a new rotatable camera ring for adjusting zoom, ISO, and other settings.

The triple-camera system mirrors the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, featuring a 50MP 1-inch main sensor with LOFIC technology, a 200MP mechanical periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. The device runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, has a 6.9-inch OLED display, a 6000mAh battery, and supports advanced video recording.

Priced at £1,700 / €1,999, the Leitzphone is available now from Leica stores in a single 16GB RAM and 1TB storage configuration.
