It has been quite a while since a title truly motivated me to aim for 100% completion. However, Over the Hill, a new off-roading adventure that recently arrived on Steam with support for both co-op and single-player modes, has completely hooked me.
The Joy of Discovery
My initial time with the game revealed several immersive features, including dynamic weather conditions and a realistic day/night cycle. What really cemented my commitment, however, was the organic wildlife interaction. While navigating a rugged trail and using my winch to conquer steep inclines, I heard a raven's call. Successfully photographing it was satisfying, but the moment that changed everything occurred shortly after:
«I saw the flash of something slinking through the tall grass near my Jeep, and after following it with my camera for about a minute, it finally stepped out into full view. A coyote!»
Capturing that shot triggered a sudden goal: I am now determined to track and document every animal in the game.
A Comprehensive To-Do List
The experience is so enjoyable that I have decided to fully complete everything the game has to offer. My list includes:
- Discovering every single point of interest.
- Unlocking all available vehicles and cosmetic items.
- Acquiring every possible vehicle upgrade.
- Tracking down every hidden meteorite.
The meteorite collection adds a unique layer to the gameplay; you must utilize specialized equipment to locate them, map out a challenging off-road path, and then use your winch to extract them. I have already secured one, and I am set on finding the rest.
Steam Deck Compatibility and Availability
As a bonus, Over the Hill is fully verified on the Steam Deck, making it the perfect companion for a relaxing weekend of off-roading from the couch. If you are interested in joining the journey, the game is currently available on Steam with a 20% discount until October 28.
