Seamless Race Discovery Within Strava
For a long time, Strava has served primarily as a post-workout analysis tool. However, the platform is shifting its focus to help users determine their training objectives from the start. Following the recent introduction of its Claude integration, the company has unveiled a new Events tab located within the app’s Groups section.
This update consolidates local club activities, community gatherings, and, for the first time, Runna’s comprehensive race database into a single, accessible interface. Users can now explore thousands of global races without needing to exit the Strava application.
Advanced Filtering for Personal Goals
The new search functionality allows athletes to refine their race selection based on specific criteria, including:
- Distance
- Date and Location
- Sport type
- Elevation gain
- Expected weather conditions
This development represents a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two companies, following Strava's acquisition of Runna last year. While Runna's race directory was previously accessible via web browsers, this is the first time the feature has been fully embedded into the Strava mobile experience.
Strengthening Community Connections
Beyond race discovery, the Events tab is designed to highlight community-led activities. It surfaces local club runs, rides, and group sessions tailored to a user’s specific interests and geographic location. To support this, Strava has also updated its Club Organiser Hub, providing administrators with improved resources to launch, manage, and expand local communities.
«The goal is to make discovering the next event on your calendar as intuitive and simple as recording your last workout,» suggests the company's latest update. By centralizing these features, Strava aims to reduce the need for users to navigate between various websites and social media pages, positioning itself as an all-in-one hub for training and community engagement.
