A Long-Awaited Reveal

Following recent announcements concerning NASCAR 26, iRacing has finally pulled back the curtain on its highly anticipated IndyCar project. While the existence of this title has been known in the industry for some time, official details have been scarce until now.

Launch Timeline and Platform Availability

The game, officially titled IndyCar Racing The Game, is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in early 2027. Developers have specified that the launch will coincide with the countdown to the 2027 Indianapolis 500, which is set for May 30. This timeline likely helps the studio avoid the highly competitive late-2026 release window, which is expected to be dominated by other major industry heavyweights.

Development and Innovation

Tony Gardner, the president of iRacing, expressed the team's dedication to the project, noting:

«This is a project our team has been passionate about for a long time. We're bringing everything we know about authentic, immersive racing to consoles and PC, and creating an experience worthy of the INDYCAR name. 2027 can't come soon enough.»

Unlike the upcoming NASCAR 26, which utilizes the Unreal Engine, this title is being built on an in-house engine previously utilized for ExoCross. This approach allows iRacing to integrate their signature simulation expertise with the structure of a more conventional racing game.

Filling a Two-Decade Void

The announcement marks a significant milestone for fans, as there has not been a dedicated official IndyCar video game in over twenty years. Aside from iRacing’s existing simulation platform, the series has remained largely absent from the broader gaming market, making this upcoming release a highly anticipated addition to the racing genre.
