Industry reports indicate that Apple could be preparing for a showcase on October 28, with rumors pointing toward several highly anticipated hardware updates. According to information shared by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant may introduce a series of new devices, ranging from redesigned laptops to refreshed tablets.

The Evolution of the MacBook Pro

One of the most significant rumors concerns the potential launch of OLED MacBook Pros. These machines are expected to be the slimmest and lightest laptops Apple has ever produced. By utilizing OLED panel technology—which is inherently thinner and lighter than traditional displays—Apple aims to set a new benchmark for portability.

Speculation also suggests that Apple might move away from the traditional screen notch, opting instead to implement an iPhone-style Dynamic Island. Regarding performance, the 14-inch and 16-inch models are rumored to be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. While these may not be the newest silicon, they remain exceptionally powerful, though they will likely come at a premium price point.

Updates to the iPad mini

The company's smallest tablet is also reportedly due for an overhaul. The centerpiece of this update is expected to be the integration of an OLED display, positioning it alongside the iPad Pro as a premium screen experience. While the refresh rate remains a point of contention—with reports fluctuating between 60Hz and 120Hz—other upgrades are more certain:

  • Repositioned front-facing camera for improved landscape video calls.
  • A redesigned internal speaker system.

Expanding the M6 Lineup

Following the debut of the M6 chip in the latest Mac mini, it is widely expected that Apple will integrate this processor across other product lines. This could include an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed iMac featuring the M6 chip.

Interestingly, insiders suggest that Apple may bypass the development of higher-end M6 variants, such as the Pro, Max, or Ultra versions. Instead, the company appears to be reallocating resources to prioritize the upcoming M7 architecture, with a heavy emphasis on enhancing artificial intelligence capabilities and graphics performance.

As with all unconfirmed reports, these details should be approached with caution until Apple makes an official announcement. However, given the company's historical pattern of end-of-year hardware releases, updates in late October remain a strong possibility.
