The medieval MMO Gloria Victis is making a surprise comeback. The game, which shut down in 2023 after less than a year of full release, has been acquired by publisher Gamigo and will return as a free-to-play title.

Developer Black Eye Games cited financial reasons and team burnout for the original closure. Gamigo's announcement on Steam praises the game's unique territory control, siege warfare, and large-scale, skill-based open-world PvP, promising to preserve this core experience.

The revival has sparked mixed reactions. While some welcome its return, others express concerns over potential pay-to-win mechanics or cheaters in a free model. Gamigo assures players the resurrected game will have "skill-based combat at its core" and "no pay to win."

The publisher plans to improve stability, fix bugs, and add quality-of-life updates while keeping the original gameplay intact. No specific release date has been set, but a Discord server will relaunch on March 2.
