Customizing the Google Health Experience
Since the rebranding of the Fitbit application to Google Health earlier this May, the user experience has been somewhat inconsistent. However, Google is actively working to resolve primary user concerns. The most recent update, version 5.06, introduces a highly requested feature: the ability to conceal AI Coach insights from the app's main dashboard.
How to Access the New Feature
According to reports, this rollout is currently reaching both Android and iOS platforms. To toggle this setting, navigate to your profile icon in the top right corner, then proceed to Google Health settings and select Coach.
It is important to note that the feature may not be immediately available to every user. As some individuals have noted on community forums like Reddit, the setting might require a server-side activation from Google, meaning full deployment could take some time to reach all premium subscribers.
Refining the AI Integration
The AI Coach, which is exclusive to subscribers of the Google Health Coach service (formerly Fitbit Premium), has faced criticism for being overly intrusive. Users frequently voiced their dissatisfaction with the system's tendency to offer redundant advice.
As one user noted in discussions regarding the feature: «It inanely comments on things you've already done.»
The new update does not permanently delete the AI assistant—it remains accessible via the Fitness tab—but it removes it from the default startup screen. This adjustment is designed to help users reach their core fitness metrics without having to scroll past text-heavy analysis.
Additional Improvements
Beyond the interface adjustments, version 5.06 includes a series of bug fixes specifically targeting map displays. These corrections ensure that metrics like pace and heart rate data are rendered accurately during activity tracking. For now, those looking for significant new feature sets beyond these refinements will need to wait for future patches.
