The Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) has published its official rankings of the top-selling video games in Canada for the year 2025.

The list of 20 games showcases remarkable diversity across genres. Notably, four of the top six titles were developed, at least partially, within Canada. While iconic games like Grand Theft Auto V and the new Borderlands 4 appear on the list, Canadian-made games secured the top two positions.

Claiming the number one spot nationwide is Battlefield 6, a project that involved Montreal's Motive Studio for story design and general development. The game was a collaborative effort between Motive, DICE (Stockholm), Criterion Games (UK), and Ripple Effect Studio (Los Angeles) under the "Battlefield Studios" umbrella.

Ranking second is NHL 26, developed exclusively by EA Vancouver. This studio is also behind other major EA Sports franchises like FIFA and has a long history in game development, including work on classic titles.

The full ESAC list for 2025 includes: Donkey Kong Bananza, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption II, Civilization VII, Elden Ring: Nightreign, Forza Horizon 5, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Minecraft, Split Fiction, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Ghost of Yotei, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, NBA 2K26, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, EA Sports FC 25, Borderlands 4, Monster Hunter Wilds, NHL 26, and Battlefield 6.

Many listed games are currently available at discounted prices. The Canadian video game industry is a significant economic driver, contributing $5.5 billion to the national GDP.
