Decoding Mii Communication
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream challenges players with the ongoing responsibility of maintaining their island and keeping residents satisfied. While the game is highly engaging, it doesn't always provide clear explanations for the various visual cues that appear over your Miis' heads. Understanding these icons is essential for efficiently managing relationships and ensuring the happiness of your islanders.
Standard Thought Bubbles
- Yellow thought bubble: Indicates a basic need. The Mii is looking for specific items such as clothing, food, or interior decorations for their apartment.
- Orange thought bubble: Relates to social interactions. These requests involve making new friends, moving in with others, or acting as a matchmaker between two residents.
- Pink thought bubble: Focused on romance. This may involve a character expressing a new crush, asking a partner for their hand in marriage, discussing having a child, or even seeking a divorce.
- Purple thought bubble with Zs: Your Mii is currently sleeping. Interacting with them during this time allows you to view their dream and earn a thematic gift.
Action-Oriented Lines and Emotes
Aside from standard thoughts, your Miis will use various lines and visual effects to communicate urgent needs:
- Green lines: The Mii wants to play a mini-game, such as the Shadow Quiz or Red Light, Green Light.
- Purple lines: The Mii is in distress due to an accident, such as being frozen, having hiccups, or falling. You can assist them directly or facilitate a bond by having another resident help them.
- Yellow lines: A request to modify island infrastructure, such as adding a vending machine or changing roads. Refusing these requests has no negative impact on the Mii.
- Blue vertical lines: Represents sadness caused by a negative social interaction. This can be remedied with a gift, food, or comfort.
- Lightning bolts: Indicates the character feels frazzled following an awkward encounter. Similar to sadness, this is resolved through gifts, food, or affection.
Emotional States and Aura Effects
Some symbols indicate complex emotional states that require player intervention:
- Gold/yellow cloud: The Mii is observing someone they are interested in. Encouraging interaction here will strengthen their bond.
- Red fiery cloud: Signifies intense anger resulting from a disagreement. You will need to help them calm down to resolve the conflict.
- Blue cloudy aura: Indicates depression, often following a rejection. Improving their mood may require travel tickets or thoughtful gifts to boost their happiness levels.
- Tears flying from the head: A positive sign that your Mii finds a joke or situation humorous.
